Lets Be "For" One Another

Ephesians 6:12 For we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.

Flipping the channels around from news program to news program could easily drive a person nuts. I strongly dislike being sick in bed. I guess most people do. As a wife and mom I can look around and see the piles of this and the stacks of that all of which need attending to. It is quite frustrating to me. I am really trying to learn how to rest when I need to, but I really don't care for being unproductive or the helplessness that is the result being sick. I had just cared for my two younger children who were ill for a few days and now their cooties had transferred to me. Not my idea of a good time. In an effort to let my body rest I lay in bed channel surfing. I am not into soap operas and Fox News, MS NBC, CBS and CNN and the like are about the only things current on the TV in the middle of the day. There is only so much House on the Prairie, Full House and Seinfeld repeats a human being can handle, so the news it was.

Now there are some news programs and commentators that I strongly agree with most of what they have to say. Then there are some that might be reporting on the happenings on some distant planet but are pretty disconnected with what is happening here, in our country.....yes and on earth. OK, I am not going to go there, I gave up the political writing thing. One thing I have noticed, and that seems to be a common theme in regards to all of them.....they sure don't like each other much. Honestly, after a while, all the bickering and back biting began to increase the painful pressure in my already congested head. Pretty much everything I needed to be informed of was scrolling at the bottom of the screen while the talking heads expressed their disdane for this person or that person. It all was a pretty big turn off to be honest and I found myself getting disgusted, discouraged, tuning out and eventually just turning the TV off altogether. Don't get me wrong, it is a good thing to be informed and understand what is happening in the world, but all the hatred and nastiness, sometimes it is all too much.

The next day I tuned into a program on a Christian channel out of Texas that I watch on the Internet from time to time. They have a lot of excellent teachers that I enjoy that go into the deeper matters of the Torah and the Word in it's entirety. Their guest that day was a man from an African country where Islam is the legal and accepted religion. Christians are hated and persecuted there. He told the story of all he had suffered in defense of his faith. Some of his family were killed and some disappeared and were never heard from again. He also told how some of his believing brothers and sisters were murdered in front of him for not denying our Savior. These were his spiritual babes, just kids that he had led to the Lord. He explained how he was imprisoned and tortured day after day. He told of his escape from the prison and how a Muslim man had helped him and how he had led him to faith in Messiah. Then he shared something that was one of the most discouraging things to him. It really bothered him. You could see it in his eyes. No it wasn't the torture he had endured at the hands of men with most evil intentions. It had nothing to do with the fact that he couldn't bathe for 6 months. It wasn't even the maggots that were living in his flesh while imprisoned that upset him so. It was that when he finally came to America, to share and inform people of what had happened to him and IS happening to these brave believers, so that they might pray and even be of help, that one of the churches he was to visit had split over the color of the carpet. The color of the carpet!

On one hand I witnessed the world and their unwavering dedication to cut one another down and tear at one another verbally. I really wasn't surprised at that behavior, after all these are not individuals necessarily led by anything or Anyone greater than themselves......in their minds. The Bible doesn't even come into consideration as they sling mud about with gleeful abandon. They are of the world, so they behave like the rest of the world. I used to know a pastor that coined a phrase, "ducks quack, why do you expect them to behave any differently?", when referring to the unbelieving world. This phrase, applied perfectly to to the behavior of the media that day. They were not being anything or anyone that they were not. They were behaving exactly as expected, albeit an incredible irritation to me.

The shocking thing about this martyr's story was not all he had suffered. Although quite frankly his story brought me to tears. The most shocking thing to me was how incredibly divided we are and how very "UN-set apart" or "unholy" that truly is. Here in this country we do not have a concept of what it is to truly "suffer" for what we believe. I fear that one day, very soon, we might. Then how angry we might have been over the "color of the carpet" will be a shameful memory. What I wonder is do we have what it takes to go through all this man went through and still be unwavering in our faith when so many, dare I say "stupid" things divide us? If we are going to stand, when the "real" trials come, we had better grow up and behave in a way that differentiates us from the "world". I just don't see that enough in America. In the 18 years of my life as a believer I have seen, and I am really sorry to utter this, more of what looks like the world than looks like the Word. I am not leaving myself out of that equation so please understand that.

There are things we must stand up for. The truth is one of them. There is a way, however, to maintain peace as far as it is up to us and stand up clearly for what we believe. It is primarily through love and respect for our fellow believers and even unbelievers that this is accomplished even some of the time. Why must others agree with us for us to love them? Why do we feel we have that right to have that as a condition? Why do we think we even have the right to be offended? Was the cost of our Savior impaled on a tree too little that we are afforded such an option? My guess is that the martyr on the TV would have the correct answers to such very basic questions.

There are some things on the horizon for America. Believers here are going to have to come together in a way we never have. We need to understand that the battles we fight are primarily not against flesh and blood. We have an adversary that understands that division among us will most certainly defeat us. We had better learn to be "for" one another even if we can't agree on some things. None of us know how to do this perfectly. I mess up daily. Only by consuming His Word and His presence can we accomplish His will and truly understand what it means to love one another. If we don't we will be no different than the talking heads or the "world".

So lets be "for" one another and not against each other. Lets love those who persecute us and pray for those who set themselves against us, without the condition of them agreeing with us or understanding us. Lets seek to be "ministers of reconciliation" first with G-d and then with one another. It is only then that we truly have a chance of winning them to the faith and walking in the example of Yahshua our Messiah.

Have a blessed day and pray for the martyrs!

Observations from the Window

Observations from the Window

I spend a lot of time at my kitchen window. I don’t have a very big kitchen. It is adequate, and pretty much everything centers around or near the window. I wash dishes there. I chop, slice and dice from there. I make coffee for my husband there. My cookbooks set on the counter there. My children’s tokens of “love for mommy” art set in the windowsill so I can look upon them. Most importantly I have had many conversations with my Abba there. The kitchen window is a pretty special and very busy place.

Behind our home we have a good amount of wooded property. On any given day you can see all kinds of critters great and small living in and sometimes coming out of the woods behind our home. Feral cats, squirrels, chipmunks, aardvarks, raccoons, fox and of course many, many deer. We have a big population of them as the area our subdivision is built on used to be a gaming range. The deer, for the most part, do not wonder out of the woods unless it is dark or they hear no human activity around them. The forest provides good cover and protection for them. My neighbor puts out corn for them and sometimes that will draw them into her yard. However, most of the time they are deep in the cover of the woods and can’t be seen.

Last week I was working hard to conquer another huge pile of dishes from a meal we had just had and I was gazing out the window into the woods. It is about winter now and most of the trees have dropped their leaves. The trees rather than thick, green and lush are now bare, dry and gray. I noticed white tails and graceful, slow movements far into the distance and realized that I could see the deer quite deeply in the woods. There is no place for them to hide anymore. With the lack of foliage they are almost completely exposed and vulnerable. It is hunting season right now. I had never thought about it much, because I am not a hunter, but it makes sense that it is this time of year. They are very easy to spot.

There are “winters” in our lives. No one is completely immune to those moments. There are times when things seem bare, dry and gray. Like the deer we can be very vulnerable during those times. We can be vulnerable to attack, suggestion and lies from the adversary. The enemy infrequently takes aim when we are covered and protected by abiding in Him and His Word, but has a very sure shot during the times that we have wondered into the barren woods apart from Him and are alone and exposed. Unlike the deer, however, we have a choice to be vulnerable and exposed or to remain in the cover of His Word and in Him. We also have a choice to be alone or not because He is available to us. Sometimes it does not feel as if the choice is ours. Life can hand us circumstances that can convince us that He is a million miles away, but again that is a lie, planted by the evil one at a time that we are exposed and vulnerable. His Word is clear that if we remain in Him, He will remain in us! This is great news.

John 15:4-5 reads as follows:
4 Stay united with me, as I will with you -- for just as the branch can't put forth fruit by itself apart from the vine, so you can't bear fruit apart from me. 5 "I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who stay united with me, and I with them, are the ones who bear much fruit; because apart from me you can't do a thing. (CJB)

It is encouraging to me and I hope to you too, that the Word gives us great examples of men and women that faced the same human emotion and struggles that we do in our own lives and were able to overcome through His strength. One such example is that of the Prophet Elijah.

1Kings 19:1 Ach'av told Izevel everything Eliyahu had done and how he had put all the prophets to the sword. 2 Then Izevel sent a messenger to say to Eliyahu, "May the gods do terrible things to me and worse ones besides if by this time tomorrow I haven't taken your life, just as you took theirs!" 3 On seeing that, he got up and fled for his life. When he arrived in Be'er-Sheva, in Y'hudah, he left his servant there; 4 but he himself went a day farther into the desert, until he came to a broom tree. He sat down under it and prayed for his own death. "Enough!" he said. "Now, ADONAI, take my life. I'm no better than my ancestors."

Here was a man that was a mighty man of G-d, yet even he stumbled into a dry, barren place. Elijah was pretty down and beat from dealing with the murderous Jezebel and her husband Ahab. She had set her sights on killing him! We see later on in the text that the Father meets him and lifts him out of that state and that he overcomes in the power of the Lord! Like I said, no one is immune to those moments……not even superstars of the Word like the Prophet Elijah. We all have a tendency to try to do it on our own and go it alone.

So, if you have found yourself in a place where you are vulnerable and exposed don’t lose heart and do not grow weary. He is right there and He will not leave you. Remain in Him and in His Word. Or if you have wondered away a bit, go back. Go to the shelter that he provides for you and remain in Him.

Excellent Article Explaining Lashon Hara

This article is by Mordechai Silver and it is really excellent. It provides some biblical insight on how to deal with our relational issues within the Body in regards to the tongue.

Lashon Hara: The Evil Tongue

by Mordechai Silver
treelife@etz-chayim.org

How do we keep from practicing malicious gossip in the Body of Messiah?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A very prominent problem in the Church and Messianic congregations is the issue of what Judaism calls Lashon Hara or the Evil Tongue. Lashon Hara is defined as gossip, slander, murmuring, lying, etc. Judaism has a whole system in place to deal with this problem and essentially it boils down to this: if you don’t have something nice to say about someone then don’t say it at all! And this includes even thinking about it.

The problem within our congregations today is that we think that we are being righteous when we share what we perceive to be wrong about someone else. But this is what is at the heart of the problem. It is our perceptions that cause us to commit Lashon Hara, all in the name of the Kingdom of Yahweh. We would be better off minding our own business and reflecting on our own actions and words than worrying about everyone else.

So with that in mind, let us take a look at what Scripture has to say about the subject of Lashon Hara.

We are going to start out with first sharing what Scripture has to say about forgiveness and resolving disputes. So you might say that we are putting the cart before the horse but what our intention is, is to show how we are supposed to treat one another and then we will proceed on and show what Scripture has to say about that part of our body called the tongue.

Matthew 18:21-22: Then Kefa called to Him, and said, “My Master, how many times will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” And Yeshua said to him, “I say not to you, until seven times, but until seventy times seven.”

Now with that in mind let us take a look at the proper Biblical procedure for resolving disputes.

Matthew 18:15-17: And if your brother sins against you, go and reprove him between you and him alone, and if he will hear you, you have won your brother. But if he will not hear you, take to yourself one witness or two, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established [Deuteronomy 19:15]. And if he will not hear them, speak to him in the assembly, but if he neglects to hear in the assembly, let him be to you as a heathen or a transgressor.

This is the basis for forgiving one another and how to go about resolving disputes with brethren. Nowhere do we see any instruction about sharing our problems with others before we first attempt to resolve our problem with our brother. And nowhere do we see instruction allowing us to share gossip about anyone who we are having a problem with.

Rather than going behind someone’s back and discussing them with someone not directly involved in the situation we would be better serving Yahweh by going one on one straight to our brother. One of the hardest things to do is to withdraw our words once they have gone out from our lips.

Job 27:3-4: But as long as my soul is within me and the spirit of God is in my nostrils, my lips shall not speak iniquity and my tongue shall not utter deceit.

3956 !wXl lashown {law-shone'} or !Xl lashon {law-shone'}
tongue (of men), tongue (literal), tongue (organ of speech), language, tongue (of animals), tongue (of fire)

These words come straight from the mouth of Job. We would encourage you to think about that because of the situations that Job was put through. If after what he had gone through he could still utter the words that he would not speak evil or utter lies then we had better reflect on what we are saying and doing in the Name of Yahweh because we cannot justify Lashon Hara when Job would not lower himself to doing that.

Psalm 5:10: For there is no sincerity in the mouth of any of them, their inner [thought] is treacherous; their throat an open grave, their tongue is glib.

This is pretty intense here in what David, the writer of this Psalm, is saying. There is no truth coming from their mouths and their innermost thoughts are treacherous and their throats from which comes forth their words are compared to an open grave. The words being spoken here give us a very clear idea of exactly how Yahweh views our words, especially those that come forth as slander or gossip.

And yet we know that many will read what we are writing here and say that this does not apply to them. All they are doing is sharing what they have heard themselves, but we say, this is the problem. Whether they have heard it firsthand for themselves or if they have heard second- or third-hand, it should never have been repeated except in the context of what we are shown in Matthew. Anything other than that is a violation of Scripture as shown us by Yahweh. That is the bottom line, plain and simple!

Psalm 10:7: His mouth is filled with [false] oaths, with deception and malice; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.

Psalm 15:1-5: A Psalm by David. Yahweh, who may sojourn in Your Tent? Who may dwell on Your Holy Mountain? 2 One who walks in perfect innocence, and does what is right, and speaks the truth from his heart; 3 who has no slander on his tongue, who has done his fellow no evil, nor cast disgrace upon his close one; 4 in whose eyes a contemptible person is repulsive, but who honors those who fear Yahweh; who can swear to his detriment without retracting; 5 who lends not his money on interest; and takes not a bribe against the innocent. The doer of these shall not falter forever.

When you look at the two passages from Psalms, do you see which individual Yahweh honors and who it is that He says will dwell on His Holy Mountain? The one whose lips are clean! Do you realize just how seriously Yahweh takes the sin of slander? This is not just the act of speaking ill of someone but this involves gossip, things that you have heard that sound true but have not been verified and yet they are passed on to others. We need to be very careful about what comes out of our mouths. Remember that our mouths have been compared to the grave.

It is so much more difficult to take back what we have said in anger or hurt than it is to keep our mouths shut in the first place. No matter how truthful or right we may think we are, the old adage is true: Think before you speak!

Psalm 34:14: Guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.

Psalm 39:2: I said, “I will guard my ways from sinning with my tongue, I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, even while the wicked one stands before me.”

A very interesting choice of words here in that David says that he will guard his mouth with a muzzle if necessary. Sometimes I feel like that, but it’s usually after I have spoken, when it should have been before.

The words that come from our tongues can bring us to sin. Usually we say what we are thinking and yet we may not intend it to be so. So what does this mean for us? That we must learn to train our thoughts as well as our tongues.

I have a sarcastic way about me and I say things that I should not at times. My entire family was like this so I could claim that it’s in my genes, but that really would be no excuse. It can, however, serve as an explanation of my actions. I have been striving most of my adult life to tame my tongue and most of the time have failed miserably at it. I have made a concerted effort over the past two years to do better. With the help of my wife and family and congregation I am doing better, but I still have a long way to go.

No matter how right I feel that I am, I am not supposed to strike out at others in a hurtful way and that is exactly what I have done many times. Once again the old adage comes to mind. Think before you speak.

Psalm 50:19-23: You dispatched your mouth for evil, and your tongue adheres to deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother, you slander your mother’s son. 21 These have you done and I kept silent, You thought that I was like you; I will rebuke you and lay it clearly before your eyes! 22 Understand this now, you who have forgotten God, lest I tear you asunder and there be none to rescue. 23 He who offers confession honors Me; and one who orders [his] way, I will show him the salvation of God.

Speaking ill of someone is equated with not knowing God. That’s pretty hard, people! Yet if we repent we are honoring God, and in doing that we can receive the salvation of God, the salvation that comes through repentance and acceptance of Yeshua. Repentance is not a one-time event; it is an ongoing cleansing experience. We live it out each and every day that we are here on this earth. As we live it out before Him we live it out before our brothers and those who do not know Yahweh or Yeshua.

Psalm 52:4-6: Your tongue devises treachery, like a sharpened razor that works deceit. 5 You loved evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking righteousness, Selah. 6 You have loved all devouring words, a tongue of deceit.

I’ll tell you one thing that is coming out from these passages of Scripture. The tongue is associated with deceit in that the word of Yahweh is saying that our tendency is to do evil rather than to speak words of righteousness. Why do you think that is? Think carefully about that.

Our tongues are compared to a sharpened razor. They slice and dice and leave our brothers and sisters lying in our wake, battered and bruised, trying to figure out what it was that hit them. How many times have you experienced this? We expect this type of behavior from those who we say are of the world but from fellow believers in the Messiah Yeshua?

My oh my oh my, what has come out of the mouths of those who claim to know Yeshua! We have done more damage to our brothers and sisters in Messiah, and what kind of an example have we been to those who do not know Yeshua? We need to clean our acts up.

Psalm 57:5: My soul is among lions, I lie with men who are aflame; people whose teeth are spears and arrows, and whose tongue is a sharp sword.

Razors and swords and evil and deceit. Boy, our tongues are not being described in very flattering terms here and everywhere else in Scripture. I am only touching the surface in this paper. I would encourage you to do an in-depth study, not only of the tongue but associated word studies on gossip, slander, etc. This can be a very fascinating study and can show us things that we really do not want to see about ourselves.

We really have to stop and take a close look at ourselves. We spend way too much time and effort looking at our brothers and sisters when we should be doubling that effort on ourselves. There is a Scripture that instructs us to remove the beam from our own eye first before we look on our brothers and sisters and judge them. Correction in love is one thing; judgment is another.

Psalm 64:3-5: Hide me from the counsel of the wicked, from the assembly of evildoers, 4 who have sharpened their tongue like the sword, and drawn their arrow—a bitter word—5 to shoot in stealth at the innocent; suddenly they shoot him and they are unafraid.

Are you beginning to see a pattern forming here? The tongue is as bad as the sword and can do more damage, in some cases, than the actual weapon itself. The sword can wound the body and even bring death, but the tongue can bring hurt to the spirit. The body can heal and in time so can the spirit, but a lot of times we leave the person upon whom we have turned our tongues in a very vulnerable position, and they are very susceptible to further hurt.

I know of which I speak, for I speak, at times, with a ‘wicked tongue.’ What I mean is that I say things that can be hurtful when I should not have. Instead of being physically abusive, I am verbally abusive, and that can be more demeaning to the person at whom I aim my words than actually physically harming them. I don’t make excuses for myself or my actions. I have had to, on more than one occasion, ask for forgiveness for my words.

I now try to watch what I say. I slip up from time to time, but I have finally come to the point where, if I cannot say something nice about someone, I try not to say anything at all. I am by nature a pessimist, seeing the cup as half-empty instead of half-full. My reasoning for this is that if things do not turn out the way I would like them to, then I am not that disappointed. But that attitude can carry over and infect every aspect of your life, including not only your relationship with those close to you and those around you, but also your relationship with God.

Psalm 109:2-5: For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful have opened against me, they have spoken to me the language of falsehood. 3 And with words of hatred they have encircled me, and attacked me without cause. 4 In return for my love they accuse me, but I was in prayer. 5 They placed upon me evil in return for good, and hatred in return for my love.

Regarding verse 4 the rabbinical commentary says: My love for them was genuine, as I would pray on their behalf.

In other words, despite what evil came upon David he prayed for those that caused evil to befall him. Where else have we seen this instruction? In the Brit Chadashah-the Renewed Testament. Pray for those who spitefully use you. Love your enemy. These words were spoken by our Messiah Yeshua and they take love to a whole new level. No matter what evil someone may bring upon us, we are to lift them up in prayer. And do you know what? Praying for those who are against you will bring you release from the anger that you store up inside of you. Praying for those who have come against you in word and deed will change you, and it can change the person or persons who hurt you.

I am sure that all of us can relate situations where we have been slandered and hurt by those that we thought were our friends. If we let that hurt simmer, it will fester like a sore and become infected with unforgiveness on our part. But when we lift them up in prayer and lift the situation up in prayer, Yahweh brings healing to our spirits. In bringing healing to our spirits, healing can come to our physical beings as well.

It has been shown that prayer works and can touch our physical bodies as well as our spirit. Don’t go toe-to-toe with those who come against you. Love them and pray for them. Speak only good things about them. If you speak good of them, sooner or later you will begin to see the good in a bad situation.

Psalm 120:2-3: Yahweh, rescue my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. 3 What can He give you, and what can He add to you, O deceitful tongue?

5315 Xpn nephesh {neh'-fesh}
soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion, that which breathes, the breathing substance or being, soul, the inner being of man, living being, living being (with life in the blood), the man himself, self, person or individual, seat of the appetites, seat of emotions and passions, activity of mind

It is here that we see that the tongue and the words that come forth from our mouths harm the soul, that which gives us life, from whence our emotions come. When I talk about life being from the soul, I mean that in the sense that the soul is what brings us into being, the life force, that exists within us. This is that part of Yahweh that exists within us that makes us like Him in the sense that we have the emotions that our Creator has. But it is the Ruach or Spirit of Yahweh that brings even more of our Creator into our very makeup, that part that connects us to our heavenly Father and joins us to the Living Word, Yeshua.

Proverbs 10:31: The mouth of a righteous one speaks wisdom, but a duplicitous tongue will be cut off.

Proverbs 12:19: True speech is established forever, but a false tongue is only for a moment.

You know, I never realized just how much the Bible had to say about the tongue and the words that we speak with it. The slander or falsehood that comes from our mouths will not last forever even though in our society it seems to be the gossip that lasts longer than the truth. What does that say about our society? Are we a society that draws its laws from the Torah of God or one which draws from the lies that come from that great deceiver, haSatan?

How many build their foundation on the Rock—Yeshua and the words that He gave to us to establish us—the Torah! The truth is established forever. That means forever. In this passage the Hebrew word used for "ever" is not the one that is usually used. Here it is:

5703 d[ `ad {ad}
perpetuity, for ever, continuing future, ancient (of past time), for ever (of future time), of continuous existence, for ever (of God's existence)

In most passages that use "forever," the Hebrew word that is usually used is ‘olam’. But the meaning of the Hebrew word used here, ahd, mirrors what ‘olam’ means. It has always existed and will always exist. The truth will always be, while falsehood will not. So it may be that our society thrives on the falsehoods that abound today, but in the end the truth will be left standing when all is said and done.

Proverbs 15:4: A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but corruption of it is damage of the spirit.

The tree of life in Hebraic or Jewish thought is equated to the Torah. But even more than that, we as believers in the Messiah Yeshua realize that Yeshua is the Living Torah, the Living Tree of Life, who brings soothing to our souls and our spirits. The message that He brings is one of peace that passes all understanding but nevertheless is a peace that we so desperately need. Our words of anger and hate and mistrust and the gossip that we bring into the Body do nothing but tear the Body of Messiah apart.

Where is the love that we are supposed to have, not only for one another but also for those who gossip against us? Where is the forgiveness that we are to freely give? People of Yahweh, repent and be forgiven as we forgive those who come against us. Yeshua instructed us to forgive those who trespass against us, and He further instructed us to forgive seven times seventy those who trespass against us.

This is not an easy thing to do, my friends. Forgiving without strings attached is not easy. Remember that if you do, try not only to forgive but to apologize for your part in the misunderstanding. If it is not accepted by the other party, you have done what you were instructed to do and now all you can do is turn it over to Yahweh in prayer.

Proverbs 17:4: An evildoer is attentive to iniquitous speech; a false person listens to a destructive tongue.

Proverbs 17:20: The perverse of heart will not find good, and one duplicitous in his tongue will fall into evil.

Watch what you say. Solomon is the accepted writer of Proverbs and he had been blessed by Yahweh with the gift of wisdom. Yet even in that superior wisdom, it did him no good in the end because he followed after the gods of his many wives and turned away from Yahweh. It was because of Solomon’s sin that the united Kingdom of Israel was torn in two.

The words of his wives brought Solomon down from the heights of being blessed by God to the depths of being lost in idolatry. We need to take this as an example for us in our lives that one day we can be close to Yeshua and the next day we can be far away and not realize just how far we have drifted off course.

This brings to mind the many people that I have known over the years who, while once professing faith in Yeshua, come into the truth of what the Bible really has to say about their Hebraic Roots. But as they journey from their place in Christianity towards a better and fuller understanding of their Hebraic or Jewish Roots they begin to look to the traditions and customs of the Jewish faith while taking their eyes off the author of their faith—Yeshua! Ultimately, and I have personally seen this, they embrace Judaism and reject Yeshua.

Guard your faith, my brother and sisters, and cherish what you have. Cling to Yahweh and Yeshua and call upon the Ruach HaKodesh to fill you up with the might and power of the Holy One of Israel! Rejoice in your Messiah Yeshua and give thanks to His Father, Yahweh, who asked Him to give up His life for us.

Proverbs 18:21: Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love [to use] it will eat its fruit.

Truer words were never spoken! Life and death are in our mouths and come forth from our tongues. Do you try to bring life or death through your tongue? Do you try to speak kind words or words that bring hurt? I have spoken words over the years that have brought hurt to many, and I have been on the receiving end of words that have hurt me. We have the power of life and death in our mouths. We need to keep a tight reign on our tongues and what we say with it. Build up; do not tear down.

Proverbs 25:23: [As] the north wind brings forth rain, [so] stealthy slander brings forth an angry face.

Proverbs 26:28: A lying tongue hates those it oppresses, but a smooth mouth will turn [the hatred] back.

Jeremiah 9:7(8): Their tongue is like a drawn arrow, speaking deceit; with his mouth one speaks peace with his fellow, but inside of him he lays his ambush.

Are you seeing just how powerful our tongues are? Do you see just how much bad our tongues can do when we use them for the purpose of speaking gossip? These things do not glorify God! Speak the words of truth, and understand that the word of truth is the Torah and the Torah is Yeshua. Gossip and slander do not come forth from the mouth of the Son of God. We are called to imitate Him. Are you?

Do your words divide the Body of Messiah or bring it together? Has a root of bitterness taken hold of you? Has someone who is close to you spoken words that have hurt you and you have let that resentment take root in your spirit and now it is festering like an open wound? Forgive! Even if the offending party does not forgive you or does not want to speak with you, forgive! It will be like a soothing balm to your spirit once you let go of the root of bitterness. No matter how right you may feel or justified in your anger, let it go.

Allow the Spirit of Yahweh and His love to flow through your innermost being and bring you life everlasting. You must first forgive before you can be forgiven. This forgiveness from you frees up Yahweh to pour out His healing love upon you and then allows your prayers to come before the throne of God.

The tongue brings life or death. Which will it be for you? I choose life. I choose to tame that wild member of my body and bring it into submission not just to me but to Yahweh. I choose to allow Yeshua to work through me, not in spite of me.

James 3:5-6, 8: So also, the tongue is a small member and it exalts itself. Also, a little fire causes large forests to burn. 6 And the tongue is a fire and the world of sin is like a forest. And the tongue, though it is [one] among the members, defiles our whole body and sets on fire the successions of our generations that roll on as wheels; and it burns also with fire. 8 But the tongue, no man is able to subdue; this evil, when it is not restrained, is full of the poison of death.

If you take the time to think about the Scriptures that I have presented to you in this article, you will see that the tongue and the words that come from it hold a lot of power for something so small in our body. In this article I have only scratched the surface on this subject; I hope to do another article in the next issue of the Journal on gossip. The two subjects go together and are intricately tied one to the other.

I feel very strongly about gossip and slander and those things that are associated with it. We have laid out for us in the Bible the means to resolve any differences that we may have with one another. Why is it that we cannot follow the Scriptural dictates as shown to us in the Book of Matthew? They are very simple to do and give us a system that obviously was used by the Shalichim/Apostles in their dealings with the congregations that they planted and among themselves. We see Biblical evidence that a Beit Din or House of Judgment was in place within the community of believers, at least in Jerusalem. We see that Peter and Paul both submitted to this Beit Din and that James was the head, or in Hebrew the ‘nasi,’ or president of the Beit Din.

If we would order our congregational disputes being resolved around this format, I believe that things would be so much easier. But in doing this we need to know that our leaders are above reproach and that they are in submission to the Torah. The Torah is the constitution of Israel. It is our declaration of independence from the ways of the world and brings us the freedom that Yahweh offers us. God’s kingdom is not a democracy. God is in control. Since He created us, who then would know better what it is that we need? He did not have Moses write down the Torah in order for us to toss it away.

The Torah is God-given, and the writers were Ruach-inspired. As men, we are fallible, as shown to us time and time again throughout the Bible. But in our weaknesses we see the power of Yahweh shine through. When we make mistakes, we need to humble ourselves before Him and ask to be forgiven and in turn forgive those who have wronged us, as well as realizing that we may also be at fault. Admitting that we may be wrong is not an easy thing to do. Our pride and the way we are taught today is against our taking any responsibility for our actions. Our way of life teaches us to exalt ourselves. We are taught, even though it is not always said, that we can be like gods. Our way of life, our technological advances, our science, all tell us that we can depend on ourselves and that to believe in a higher being only makes us weak.

But you know what? It’s in that weakness that God is exalted. Paul had a thorn in his flesh that he prayed to God three times to have it removed, and God refused. He told Paul that it was in weakness that men would see the glory and the power of God. We are weak, but in Yeshua we are made strong. The world and even other believers may come against us for our walk as part of Messianic Israel, but in the end our reward will come from the Author of all Creation, not from the author of destruction. The world will go its own way and pay the price in the end. We are called not to be citizens of this world but to hold fast to our faith in Yeshua and the citizenship that we have waiting for us in the Kingdom of God.

Let’s try to remember that we are emissaries of Yeshua sent out like He sent out the seventy. We are called to be a light in this world not just to those who do not know Yeshua but to those who know Him but need a guide to bring them back to the straight and narrow path. We may know that the Torah is still valid, that the seventh day Sabbath is the day Yahweh gave to us for our weekly gathering to honor Him, and that the dietary laws are still in effect; the bottom line is that we have grace and Torah, and they go hand in hand.

But keep in mind that those who are our brothers and sisters in Messiah and even those who are not are where we once were. Share with them the truth, but in love and mercy. Extend the ‘chesed’, lovingkindness of God to those you come across in your daily lives. Love your enemies as well as your friends. Even if we reject Him, I believe that Yeshua still loves us, as we are His creation. Though even in that unlimited love, rejection of Yeshua carries a cost. Think before you speak. If you do not have something nice to say about someone then do not say anything at all. Let me close with this passage from 1 Peter 3:10-11:

Therefore, he who desires life and loves to see good days should keep his tongue from evil and his lips should not speak guile. 11 Let him turn away from evil and let him do good, and let him seek shalom and let him pursue it.

Simple Challah

Simple Challah Ingredients

8 cups of Flour + extra during kneading
1 package of Yeast
2 teaspoons of Kosher Salt
1/4 cup of Honey
3 Eggs
2 1/2 cups of Flour
1/2 cup of Oil (I like olive, some people use vegetable)

Mix water, yeast, salt and all wet ingredients. Slowly add flour 1 cup at a time. Mix until stiff and then knead for about 5 minutes. Let dough rise 1 1/2 hours. After dough has risen knead dough for another 5 minutes. Cut dough in half and then cut halves into three "snakes". Braid into two loaves, place on a greased baking sheet and then loaves rise another hour. After rising, brush with egg and top with poppy seeds. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Enjoy!!

Oh Yonah....(Jonah)

I have read the story of Jonah many times to my children over the years. All the children's stories paint Jonah as this reluctant and rather judgemental prophet not wanting to see the citizens of Nineveh spared Yahweh's wrath because of the gross sinfulness of the people. While I am glad he obeyed in the end and delivered the message he was commanded to, and the people were spared, I understand how difficult it is to convey a message that in one's perception might be received poorly and possibly even violently. Sometimes you just want to run away!

It is difficult to approach people with the message of the besorah (good report, good news, the gospel). It first identifies them as sinners in need of a savior without the possibility of redeeming themselves with any works of their own. THEN it requires them to turn from their sin, repent, and receive Yahshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus Christ) as Lord and Savior and allow His shed blood to cover their sin AND begin to seek to walk in obedience to what He has commanded. A pretty tall order from some folks, coming out of the world, and not always a very welcome message!

There is always the possibility of making the message more palatable and diplomatic if you will. It would certainly go easier for the messenger, but is it the right thing to do? If one waters down the good news in order to make it more palatable, one must ask themselves, is it the same message? When my children were little I would add water to their apple juice in order for them to not digest too much sugar. My question is this, is that juice still in it's original form or has it changed by my adding something to it? Obviously, it is different. Water is a chemical component and while apple juice contains some water obviously adding more water to the original juice changes the very form of the juice and it's chemical make up by diluting it. It is no longer in it's original form. It doesn't taste like real apple juice. It doesn't look like apple juice. It doesn't even smell completely like real apple juice! It contains apple juice, but it is no longer apple juice in it's pure form. When my kids finally had a taste of the real thing they weren't even sure they liked it or what it even was! The real thing, well, it was pretty hard to swallow at first. Eventually they loved it!

I don't know what the people were like exactly that Jonah spoke to. I do know they were sinners. I do know they received what he said and were spared, halleluYAH! Yahweh has given us all a message to give and there is no guarantee how it will be received. Will we be rejected? Will we be hated? Will we be labelled or scorned? Will we lose our friends and our family? I am sorry to say that is hard to tell and all those things are a real possibility. The Word is very clear that there will be division. That is the bad news. The good news is that He will be with us and enable us to do what He asks us to and that our treasure is in heaven and not on this earth of which we are not citizens. The temptation will always be there to run away, hide or simply water down our message to make it more palatable.....or dare I say "politically correct?"

There is another "Jesus" being preached and taught all over this great land or ours. He is a Jesus that requires nothing of you and will give you anything you ask for like a genie in a bottle. He is a Jesus that does not honor His Father or anything His Father has spoken before His coming. He is a Jesus that just wants you to "feel" good, agree with the status quo, and never challenges one to self examination, repentance of sin or any personal responsibility. I don't know about you, but the more I read the Word the more I discover those characteristics do not describe Him. He was ALWAYS in the will of His Father. He brought conviction when one was in sin and did not beat around the bush about it. He caused people to look at themselves in the mirror and evaluate the state of their spiritual poverty. He asked individuals to repent of their sin and take responsibility for their actions. Sometimes I read and see things on the "airwaves" that don't reflect the Savior of the Bible, but someone I do not recognise. You could say that there is another "Jesus" being preached or perhaps another gospel all together? What do you think?

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so you mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preachth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or it ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might bear well with him.
Lets seek Yahshua's (Jesus's) strength to do the right thing in boldness when we are led of the Ruach Ha'Kodesh (The Holy Spirit). Let us then go forth in His love and convey the message of the genuinely wonderful good news of our Lord and Savior and what He has done for all of us!!

קדוש Qodesh

**Always weigh my words in light of the Word of God.

The last couple of years I have begun to understand in a deeper way how very holy Yahweh is. I understand that am only scratching the surface on this, but I believe there is much that is not understood about his holiness. When I think about how long I took that fact for granted and how much I treated Him like a genie in a bottle or a casual friend I am ashamed and rightly so.

He is our friend, but often times we forget that He is also a Holy Elohim. We can cheapen and misuse His loving grace and make it a reason to walk in a way that is irreverent. In that irreverence it can become very simple to justify actions and choices that do not please or honor Him. We can sin and somehow believe that He doesn’t mind. In doing that we sometimes attempt to speak for Him or assume we know how He would feel in a given situation because we see Him as we see ourselves, that is a “being” with a fallen nature. It is kind of an “arrogant philosophical leap” that I am personally no longer willing to make.

Yahshua, Jesus Christ, never sinned. There isn’t a man alive now or ever that can say that. He was Elohim, He is Elohim and He will always be Elohim. He is Elohim having come in the physical form of a man. He never changes and He is not a man that He should lie. The Elohim of the Torah, the Writings and the Prophets (i.e. The Old Testament or Tanakh/Tanach) is the same God of the Brit Chadashah (i.e. The Renewed Covenant or New Testament)

2Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Malachi 3:6
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed.

One hears the word “holy” and can think a lot of different things. Perhaps you think “special” or “important” and while that is true of Him there is more to it. The word Holy in Hebrew, is Kodesh or Qodesh. The word Qodesh means Set Apart. To be set apart means to not be part of that which is of the world or that which is common or imperfect.

Honestly, our fallen sinful state earns only one thing, death. We must not forget that! If you understand the sacrificial system, prior to the crucifixion of Yahshua, you probably will understand this concept. A sacrifice brought to the altar of Elohim had to be different. It had to be without blemish, spot or defect. It had to be absolutely perfect in order to be suitable to be offered before Adonai. Why, because He is Qodesh! Anything or anyone that came into His presence had to be Set Apart, Holy as He Holy. Qodesh!

Since we are fallen beings, how in the world can we come into His presence in our sinful, fallen state? In our current fleshly state we are not perfect, without spot or blemish. This is a very good question and there is only only one answer. His shed blood that covers our sin is the only way. It was a very costly Set Apart sacrifice. He was the perfect Lamb sacrificed for the sins of the world. He was the only sacrifice suitable to take away the sins of the whole world and make it possible for man to be in His presence. He willingly chose to allow Himself to be put on a tree and allowed the shedding of His own blood for our sins. When he looks upon us, having received Him and His work on the tree, how does He see us? He sees us in the perfection of the Set Apart blood shed for us! When you read the account of the blood being placed on the doorposts so that death would pass over the Israelites in the book of Exodus before leaving Egypt, you are seeing a for-telling of what He did on the tree, for all of us! The Set Apart blood prevents death from having its victory. Through the blood of Yahshua death is conquered! We who are covered with that blood become Set Apart.

When we ask Him to be Adonai (Lord) and Savior of our lives should we continue to sin or live anyway we choose? Do our actions and motivations have any importance or are we afforded a certain kind of grace that contains no boundaries? Looking around today many people seem to be living as if that was true. The book of James is one scripture of many that speaks to this, as well as 1 Peter and Leviticus 19.

James 1:
22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

And

1 Peter 1:
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Leviticus 19
2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

His Word says to be Holy, Qodesh as He is Holy. Therefore we should not live in a way think is irreverent of His costly sacrifice but in a way that seeks to please Him.

As we get closer to His return there will be much in well meaning books and on the airways that teach conversely to his Word. If we are not diligent to know His word we can easily be deceived. We must hold fast to the Word and not to the teachings (commentaries) and traditions of man, lest we be deceived. We must not be led of our own emotions, opinions and leanings but seek nourishment and His truth from the only set apart food that satisfies.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Lets seek to be Qodesh as He is Qodesh! Blessings to you my Mishpacha in Yahshua.

The Plight of Lebanese Believers

If you have never heard Brigette Gabriel's story it is really worth listening to. A note of warning, some of what she speaks about is a little graphic. You may not want to have children present when you watch it. It is a story that is very likely a common one as far as Lebanese believers are concerned, but not one that we in the west get to hear very often.

Solid Food

If you have ever introduced a baby to solid food you are going to relate with what I am going to write. If you have more than one child you know the babies react very differently depending on the personality of the child and their comfort with what is different or new.

I have four children. My oldest son was about 3 months old when I first introduced solid food. I know that is pretty early by today's standards, but this was 18 years ago. He was a big boy and milk alone didn't seem to hold him for very long by the time he was a few months old. I really did debate about giving it to him at such a young age, but I remember him looking at my husband and myself and just longing to "chew" on something! He would even mimic our chewing when we were eating. Watching him do that led me to go ahead and try solid food. I remember putting the spoon of baby cereal mixed with applesauce in his mouth. His eyes got big and he smiled. Most of it ran down his face, onto his clothes and some of it was spit on me as he giggled! He enjoyed it and pretty quickly got the hang of keeping it all in his mouth. After a while I couldn't spoon it in there fast enough!

Now my oldest daughter was a different story. It was a similar scenario, the milk was not holding her very long, and she was about 6 months old at the time. Times had changed, as did baby books and pediatricians that encouraged parents to wait longer to introduce solid foods. I mixed the rice cereal and applesauce expecting the same glee and excitement my son had exhibited. I loaded up the spoon with this gruel and put it in her mouth. Now, by the look on this child's face you could clearly see that I had offended her! Her eyes got teary, her face got red and she looked horrified that I would do such a terrible thing to her. THIS was not what she was expecting at all! Out all of it came and the screaming began, only to be stopped by her familiar beloved bottle! Not quite the reaction that I was expecting. No worries, she is 14 years old now and she eats solid food, so it all turned out well in the end. ;)

My younger two, a boy and a girl were adopted at ages long after such experiences took place. However, with their unique personalities I think I can pretty well guess how it went when they first experienced solid food. My youngest son will eat anything, anytime and anywhere.....like my oldest son. My youngest daughter isn't into trying new things and frequently is offended by any food that is different or not on her "regular" menu!

In this verse, below, Paul gets pretty tough with those whom he is teaching, but for very good reason!

Hebrews 5:11 There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. 12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word.[a] You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

I say all this to give you a picture of all of us, believers that need to grow and mature in Messiah. I have been there and in many ways I am being weaned from milk still. I don't count myself to be above anyone. I understand, that it can be strange, frightening, wonderful and exciting when we move beyond the "milk" phase of basic scriptural concepts. Sometimes we think we have the cereal and applesauce mastered and that is just wonderful! It is enough! We are gleeful at tasting such fine food! We don't even realize that there is more. We have no idea what we are missing. We become comfortable and content with less than He intends for us. Soon our spirits crave more. The cereal and applesauce just are not doing the trick. We eat it and very soon we are hungry again. Now that we have matured some, we need something more sustaining and challenging to further grow. Then Yahweh, who is a wise Abba (Daddy) tosses a big old piece of pot roast on our plates. He carefully cuts it up in small pieces. We take a bite and realize this is going to take some chewing! We thought we knew all about chewing until we began to chomp down on the delicious yet very chewy meat. The experience kinda freaks us out at first! Soon we realize that this food is much more sustaining that what we have been eating, but it is going to take a little work in breaking it all down so we can digest it.

Growing in Messiah is likened to an infant learning to consume solid food. It is difficult at first, but it is necessary for our growth and maturity. We may struggle and even gag a bit at times at what He is showing us and how He is growing us at first. With consistency and time we will be able to digest the Truth He is feeding us! Sometimes this meat is offensive to us. You know, the things He shows us and the challenges He allows to come our way. Sometimes it is shocking, surprising and even stunning. At times it can be downright overwhelming! We often want to run back to our milk and take comfort in it. However, we must move forward and consume what He wants us to eat if we are to grow and mature. Change is hard, but it is necessary for survival and maturity. If we remain infants how will we ever be able to accomplish all that He has for us? It is impossible! To have the strength to be effective for the Kingdom we must have this rich nourishment. In order to have that kind of strength we must consume the weightier and more difficult things in His Word.

Hebrews 6:1 So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God.

We have a wonderful, loving and patient Abba Father who will kindly lead us and teach us what He needs us to know. However, we must be willing to follow His lead and trust Him. He knows what is best for us and what will nourish us! We just have to be willing to open our mouths, chew and swallow and then we will be able to digest what He gives us. We will be able to have peace even if it is unfamiliar and uncomfortable to us. This is of particular importance in the world we are now living in and as we come closer and closer to His coming! He wants us to be strong, healthy and able to handle challenges that are to come. The only way to to do that is to consume the "meat" of His Word and of His presence!

Finally, I have come to the point where I crave this nourishment. I know what He gives me is good for me and it satisfies.....more than I could have ever imagined!

Shalom friends!

The "Old" Covenants-- Jim Staley

From Passion for Truth Ministries, go to www.passion-for-truth.com for more information.

"What if the citizens of the United States were somehow deceived to believe that the Constitution is no longer relevant in today's society and needed to be abolished? That somehow the tried and true principles, laws and ordinances once put in place for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness now had no place in our high paced, secular- progressive society. The answer is simple. Every man would begin to determine what was right in their own eyes and the people in the highest places would create new laws that would ultimately bring death, bondage and injustice for all.

In the same way, the enemy knows that in order to destroy God's people, all that he needs to do is to destroy the founding Constitution of Gods Law. If he could convince the people that His Law, ordinances and commandments that He intended for Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness were no longer relevant for today, that the people would fall into bondage by creating their own laws. The enemy has crafted and executed his plan perfectly as he has convinced mankind that the Law of God is no longer relevant for today. He has even convinced us that it was God's idea to get rid of it!

Has the Law of God really been abolished? Has it really been nailed to the cross as we have been told? Have the instructions for life and the definition of sin been truly done away with? Or, was the power of sin and the curse that was placed on us because we broke it what was nailed to the cross so that we could be free from the condemnation?

This very in-depth DVD series goes from cover to cover in a very step-by-step approach to finally answer this question once and for all. We will first dive into a comprehensive study on what the definition of sin is. Then we will journey through all the major covenants of the scriptures finally answering what the New Covenant actually is. Lastly, a considerable amount of time is spent going through virtually every single verse in the NT that has been misunderstood concerning this very topic. By the end of this series, the veil will be lifted, the enemy's plan foiled, and we will finally see clearly Grounds for High Treason."

The Hebrew Yeshua vs. the Greek Jesus

Nehemiah Gordon does an excellent contextual, historical and etymological study on Matthew that is worth seeing if you never have! He clearly defines the difference between the Tanach (Torah, Writings and Prophets) and the Rabbinical writings and commentaries. Many are not aware there is a difference! This is really crucial information to understand when seeking to understand scripture.

Please bear in mind that this man is not a believer in Yahshua (Hebrew Jesus), however he is an excellent Hebrew scholar and unravels a scripture that appears to compromise others. It would be very wise for us to dig contextually, historically and in the most original text possible to come to a fuller if not a more complete understanding of scripture.

Building a Holy Temple

Messianic Rabbi Andrew Dinnerman of Beth Goyim.

274 Building a Holy Temple from Beth Goyim on Vimeo.

The above video and the following are from www.bethgoyim.org.

1 Pe 2:1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, of all deceit, hypocrisy and envy, and of all the ways there are of speaking against people;
1 Pe 2:2 and be like newborn babies, thirsty for the pure milk of the Word; so that by it, you may grow up into deliverance.
1 Pe 2:3 For you have tasted that Adonai is Good.
1Pe 2:4 as you come to him, he living stone, rejected by people but chosen by God and precious to him,
1 Pe 2:5 you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be cohanim(priest) set apart for God to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to him through Yeshua the Messiah.
1 Pe 2:6 This is why the Tanakh (Old Testament) says, “Look! I am laying in Tziyon a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and whoever rests his trust on it will certainly not be humiliated.”

"There are millions of people who call on the name of “Jesus”. However, are these people holy temples for Adonai? Is their foundation built on the Rock or are these people just following man’s religion? What does it mean to be a holy temple? Kefa (Peter) tells us here that through the pure milk of the Word of Adonai we can grow up into deliverance. In other words through His word not only will you get to know Him, but indeed He will come and live in you provided that you are built into a spiritual house set apart for Him. Yeshua Adonai never wanted religion (an institutionalized system of attitudes, beliefs, and practices). He wanted a relationship with His creation, provided that His creation wanted to live their life in a manner which is what He deems Kaddosh (holy). So what does it mean to be this living stone? These living stones, which had to be dug out from where they were and separated for Adonai’s purpose and that, had to be moved from a place that was unholy to a place that was dedicated for His purposes. This week learn what needs to be in us so that we can offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable for our God through Yeshua the Messiah?"
